WWP Ukay-ukay@ CFCFFL Family Day '09

Illinois Handmaids TROOP Project Donates 500 Towels for RVs and MVs. December 6, 2009.

The Work With the Poor (WWP) ministry participated in the CFCFFL Family Day at Assumption School, Antipolo City last Dec. 6, 2009 with an Ukay-Ukay (Rummage Sale) Booth. The WWP Ukay-Ukay booth was one of the most visited at the Family Day.

The ukay-ukay crowd.

The ukay-ukay had two objectives. First, make available to both WWP beneficiaries from our RVs / MVs and CFCFFL members second hand but still usable clothes and other items at very low prices. Second, to raise funds for WWP programs. Many thanks to our CFCFFL brethren from Las Vegas, Chicago & Canada who collected and shipped the items early part of this year. CFCFFL brethren from Parañaque District also brought in additional items.

WWP netted more than P 18,000 that day. The activity was so successful in achieving the objectives that WWP has decided to make this a regular fixture in two of the largest event of CFCFFL – namely, at the CFCFFL Anniversary held in June and at the Family Day in December.

Because of the TROOP project of CFCFFL Handmaids of Illinois, we also distributed 500 brand new towels to our WWP beneficiaries.

TROOP stands for Towel Reach Out Overseas Program – a very creative program hatched up the Handmaids to make available brand new towels to our poor beneficiaries who sometimes share 1 or 2 towels for the whole family.  400 brand new towels were given to WWP beneficiaries from 8 Restoration & Mission Villages who came & participated in the event. Another 100 were allocated to other provincial villages, one of them is our Mangyan Village at Mindoro.
