Work With the Poor

Brgy. Sico, Batangas city. June 27, 2008. "Ten (10) less homeless families", Thus announced the tarpaulin of the Lyceum of the Philippines Batangas at the entrance to the Sotero Laurel Restoration Village at Bgy. Sico, Batangas City on the occasion of the blessing and turnover of ten (10) houses last June 27, 2008. Indeed it was. Ten poor families, mostly CFCFFL members, were awarded their own houses on said date. The ceremony was preceded by Holy Mass at the site. The Lyceum donated the houses and has committed for additional 50 units as well as assistance in education and livelihood programs. The Laurel family was represented by Ms. Jojo Laurel. Batangas City Administrator Philip Baroja and Bgy. Chairman Jose Rizal Tejada graced the occasion. CFCFFL Leaders Frank Padilla, Nonong Contreras, Oca Oblifias, Rene Evidente, John Peter Vui and Cesar Ramirez (the lot donor) were also present.
